Pro-russian ruling party wins elections in Georgia. Opposition announces protest actions
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 26. According to the results of counting 99.646% of the votes, the ruling party - Georgian Dream is in the lead. This is evidenced by data from the website of the Georgian Election Commission.
Thus, Georgian Dream received 54.086% of votes. The oppositional Coalition for Changes got 10.923%, Unity-National Movement – 10.122%; Strong Georgia – 8.781%; Gakharia - for Georgia - 7.761%.
At the same time, the opposition parties announced their non-recognition of the election results. The Coalition for Changes leader Nika Gvaramia claims that the Georgian Dream is carrying out a constitutional coup, the Echo of the Caucasus reports.
He emphasized that "the election falsification scheme has been deciphered, the public will learn detailed information about it on October 27."
"The elections were stolen. This is a constitutional coup, the Georgian Dream is the author of the constitutional coup and will be prosecuted in accordance with the procedure provided by Georgian legislation. We deciphered the scheme of how the elections were stolen," Gvaramia believes.
The two political forces that took, according to the information of the Central Election Commission, the second and third places in the elections announced protest actions.
Anna Dolidze, one of the leaders of the Strong Georgia coalition, said that the results do not reflect the will of the Georgian people.
We will remind you that the EU Summit actually announced the suspension of Georgia's accession to the European Union. In recent months, the Georgian Dream has adopted a number of steps that have provoked sharp criticism from the West - from the adoption of the law on "foreign agents" to the ban on "LGBT propaganda".
