"Trump wants unchecked power and army that will be loyal to him personally," Kamala Harris

Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris commented on the statement of the former head of the Trump administration, John Kelly, who said that Trump had repeatedly expressed his admiration for Adolf Hitler, The Guardian reports.

Kamala Harris called Donald Trump a "fascist" and said that the latter wants absolute power.

"He wants an army that will be loyal to him personally, that will follow his orders even when he tells them to break the law or refuse to swear to the constitution of the United States <…> He wants unchecked power. In 13 days the question will be: what do the American people want?" Harris said.

She also emphasized that during Trump's first presidency, there were people next to him who restrained him, but they had already left the Republican team.

"Donald Trump is increasingly insecure and unstable, and in a second term, people like John Kelly will not be around to act as a protective barrier against his tendencies and his actions. Those, who once tried to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses, will no longer be near him," Harris stressed.

In taped conversations with the New York Times, Kelly, who served as White House chief of staff for 18 months during Trump's presidency, reportedly said his former boss repeatedly praised Hitler, even when it contradicted, and fit the dictionary definition of a fascist.

"He has repeatedly commented: 'You know, Hitler did some good things too,'" Kelly said, adding that he thinks Trump "will rule like a dictator" if re-elected. Also, according to Kelly, Trump complained that he did not have loyal generals, like Hitler, who could carry out his orders in the fight against the "internal enemy".

It's worth noting that Trump's press secretary denied Kelly's statements that Trump said this, calling it "absolutely false."
