Defense Ministry will check the Obukhiv territorial recruitment and social support center due to accusations of mobilizing suspects in rape of minor in Zakarpattia

The Ministry of Defense will check the Obukhiv territorial center for recruitment and social support (military commissariat) due to accusations of mobilizing suspects in the rape of a minor to the ranks of the Armed Forces to avoid punishment.

This is indicated in the statement of the Ministry of Defense on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The Ministry of Defense notes that, according to its data, those suspected of committing this serious crime were denied mobilization to the Armed Forces.

"Despite their appeals to the Obukhiv territorial recruitment and social support center for military service under a contract, they were refused due to information about their possible involvement in a criminal offense," the Ministry reports.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense decided to check the activities of the Obukhiv territorial recruitment and social support center in order to clarify the circumstances of this case.

"For a comprehensive, complete and objective clarification of the circumstances of this case, the Ministry of Defense is sending the Main Inspection of the Ministry of Defense to conduct a detailed inspection of the activities of the Obukhiv territorial recruitment and social support center. In the event that signs of a criminal offense are detected, the materials will be handed over to the SBI," the statement said.

The legal company "Miller", whose lawyers represent the interests of an underage girl who was raped in Zakarpattia, said that the two defendants have reached the age of majority and decided to mobilize through the Obukhiv territorial recruitment and social support center in the Kyiv Region before the end of the trial.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2023, the Volovets District Court of the Zakarpattia Region established that three teenagers committed group sexual violence against an underage girl, filmed the process on their phones, and distributed the video among school students. The crime itself took place in August 2021.

After the verdict was announced to three minors for sexual violence against a minor, which took place in the Zakarpattia Region, the case gained wide publicity.
