Third of Ukrainian forests damaged due to war. Damages reach USD 65 billion
Due to the full-scale invasion of russia, the ecosystem of Ukraine suffered losses of USD 65 billion.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
Thus, a third of Ukrainian forests and 20% of protected areas were affected. 35% of Europe's biodiversity is threatened with extinction.
Currently, Ukraine is working on three issues that must be addressed first. They relate to the development of a joint strategy for the protection of Ukrainian ecology:

- it is necessary to monitor, register and report on all environmental consequences, impacts, losses and damages due to the war of the russian federation against Ukraine;
- collect reviews and technical comments from partners;
- work to bring the russian aggressors to justice for all eco-crimes against Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September, the Ministry of Environment reported that the amount of damage to the environment in the Chernihiv and Sumy Regions due to pollution of the Seim and Desna Rivers amounts to more than UAH 405 million.
