Sweden joins IT coalition in support of Ukraine - Defense Ministry
Sweden joins the IT coalition in support of Ukraine.
This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The corresponding declaration was signed by the Minister of Defense of Sweden, Paul Jonsson, during a meeting with the Minister of Defense `of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, today in Brussels.
"Sweden is strengthening its support for Ukraine. This is an important step in strengthening our cooperation," Umyerov said.
He noted that Ukraine is interested in developing cooperation in the field of telecommunications and cooperation with Swedish defense companies in a number of other directions.
Umerov also said that Sweden will continue to provide military assistance, in particular, it is working on the transfer of two long-range radar detection aircraft to Ukraine.
The parties also discussed the possibilities of strengthening the Air Force of Ukraine and training one of the Ukrainian military units.
As reported by Ukrainian News Agency, earlier in October, the Ministry of Defense announced that the IT coalition had accumulated 157 million euros in support of Ukraine since its creation in September 2023.
The IT coalition, led by Estonia and Luxembourg, is one of 8 coalitions of capabilities within the Defense Contact Group of Ukraine ("Ramstein"), aimed at providing support to the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of IT, communications and cyber security.
Currently, in addition to Ukraine and Sweden, the Coalition includes 14 partner countries. Finland and Spain joined the Coalition in September.
