Ukraine and Greece sign bilateral security agreement
In Brussels, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Greek Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Security Sector.
This is stated in the message of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
As reported, since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, Greece has been providing Ukraine with military assistance, including logistical and educational assistance. With this agreement, the Hellenic Republic confirms its readiness to provide the most urgent defense needs of Ukraine in the future.
Also, together with partners, Greece will provide additional resources to accelerate the training of Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel for F-16 aircraft.
In addition, it is about economic partnership, cooperation in the field of security, support for sanctions against the russian federation, bringing the aggressor state to justice and compensation for damages, as well as interaction in the fields of culture, education and art.
Among other things, Greece undertakes to participate in the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine, supports the future membership in the EU and NATO and the Peace Formula.
It is noted that the document was signed to implement the G7 Joint Declaration adopted in Vilnius on July 12, 2023. In total, Ukraine has already concluded 27 bilateral agreements: with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the U.S., the EU, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ireland and Greece.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the security agreement signed by Ukraine with the EU on June 27 provides for military aid to Ukraine for EUR 5 billion in 2024, with further annual increases until 2027.
