Ukraine expects to receive invitation to NATO in the near future - Stefanchuk
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that Ukraine expects to receive an invitation to NATO in the near future.
He said this at a briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We expect it in the near future," he answered the question of whether Ukraine would be able to be invited to NATO even before the summit, which will take place in the summer.
According to him, the majority of NATO members support Ukraine's invitation to the alliance.
"Today, the main work will be carried out with some of them (NATO members), who influence this decision. And that is why it should happen, and now we have discussed it in great detail in closed mode, who, how and with whom continues to work with our partners," he explained.
The situation with Ukraine's invitation is changing, including due to the involvement of troops from North Korea in the russian-Ukrainian war.
"Although I would like to emphasize once again that an invitation to NATO is not yet NATO membership, but an invitation to NATO is a mega-important geopolitical step that we must take together with our partners. And I strongly believe that our joint efforts will achieve exactly this result in the near future," he added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Victory Plan, the first point of which is the invitation of Ukraine to NATO.
