Journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who previously worked for hromadske, died during transferring from Taganrog to Moscow. Her father found out about his daughter's death, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, reported in his Telegram channel.

The journalist's father received an official notification of his daughter's death. Yurchyshyn promised him that Ukraine would "do everything possible" so that Roshchyna's murderers "suffer the well-deserved punishment."

"The talented journalist was taken hostage by the russians in August 2023. And now she was killed," the MP wrote.

"According to official information from the russian authorities, this happened during the transferring process from Taganrog to Moscow. I just spoke with Mr. Volodymyr. In addition to expressing my condolences, I promised that we will do everything possible to ensure that the murderers of his daughter receive the deserved punishment. The talented journalist was taken hostage by the russians in August 2023. And now she was killed," Yurchyshyn wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier the russian federation admitted for the first time that it was holding Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna captive.
