Slovakia second country in terms of volume of emergency and commercial electricity transmission to Ukraine - Shmyhal
Slovakia is the second country in terms of both emergency and commercial electricity transmission to Ukraine.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a press conference with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Ukraine is grateful to Slovakia for the energy support that is vital for us. This allows us to respond to the energy challenges of wartime," said leader Shmyhal.
According to him, in the energy sector, Ukraine and Slovakia are implementing an ambitious joint project to modernize the Mukachevo-Veľké Kapušany electrical interconnector.
"The financing of these works is provided within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program. The project should be completed by the end of 2028," Shmyhal said.
He noted that in the end it will expand the export-import opportunities and strengthen the energy security of both states.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in September, compared to August, Ukraine reduced electricity imports by 7.5% to 438,000 MWh.
Hungary continues to hold the largest share in the structure of electricity imports (35%), Slovakia's share is 24.5%.
