Israel bans UN Secretary General from entering country
Israel declared UN Secretary General António Guterres persona non grata. From now on, Guterres has no right to enter Israel.
The ban was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Israel Katz, on social networks.
"Anyone, who is unable to unequivocally condemn Iran's criminal attack on Israel, as almost all countries of the world have done, does not deserve to set foot on the soil of Israel," the minister said.
According to Katz, Guterres, as UN Secretary General, "still has not condemned the massacre and sexual crimes committed by the murderers of Hamas on October 7" and "provides support to the terrorists, rapists and murderers of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and now the flagship of global terrorism, Iran."
Katz said Guterres "will be remembered as a blot on the history of the United Nations."
The day before, UN Secretary General António Guterres called for a cease-fire against the backdrop of Iran's attacks on Israel and condemned the "expansion of the conflict in the Middle East." Guterres did not provide any other details.
We will remind, about 500 missiles were launched at Israel on Tuesday evening by Iran. Most of the missiles were intercepted, but some hit cities. In this, the Israeli military was helped by American destroyers in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, which destroyed several missiles. There are wounded.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that Iran's massive missile attack on Israel failed because most of the missiles were intercepted by air defense.
On October 1, the White House called Iran's attack on Israel "imminent", for which ballistic missiles will be used.
On October 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that missiles had been launched from Iran towards Israel.
