Russia recaptures less than fifth of territory of Kursk Oblast lost due to AFU offensive
During almost two months of hostilities in the Kursk Oblast of the aggressor country of russia, the occupiers managed to regain control over a fifth of the territories lost as a result of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

As the publication writes, analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) previously stated that the fighting covered approximately 1,160 square kilometers of the territory of the Kursk Oblast.
As of late September, the russians have established control over about 220 square kilometers. That is, they managed to return less than a fifth of the territory of the oblast, which was lost as a result of the offensive of the AFU.
The remaining 940 square kilometers of the Kursk Oblast, the ISW continue classify as the territory of active hostilities.
The Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState stated that in late August, the Armed Forces of Ukraine controlled 1,257 square kilometers of the Kursk Oblast.
Ukrainian OSINT analysts also reported some russian successes in the region. Since then, the part of the Kursk Oblast under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their interactive map has decreased by approximately 8% to 1,152 square kilometers.
The publication also published its own infographic on how, in its opinion, the front line in the Kursk Oblast has changed.

As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated, the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast made it possible to divert 40,000 soldiers of the russian army from other areas of the front.
