Apartments will be bought for 25 new judges of High Anti-Corruption Court
The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) plans to spend UAH 60 million on the purchase of new apartments for 25 new judges.
This was said by the head of the HACC staff, Bohdan Kryklyvenko, during the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy on September 27, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Court plans to spend about UAH 60 million on the purchase of service apartments for judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court and its Appeals Chamber, who will be appointed to positions based on the results of the competition for vacant positions of judges.
The competition for 15 vacant positions of HACC judges and 10 positions of its Appeals Chamber judges was announced on November 23, 2023.
As Kryklyvenko noted, the purchase of official housing is provided for in Article 13 of the Law "On the High Anti-Corruption Court". According to the requirements of the Law, a HACC judge or its Appeals Chamber judge, who is not provided with housing, is provided with official housing by the state for the duration of his tenure.
The specified official housing is in state ownership and is not subject to privatization.
"The law guarantees housing for HACC judges. It must be taken into account that new HACC judges and its Appeals Chamber judges may be from different regions of Ukraine, and therefore will need to improve their living conditions," Kryklyvenko said.
The head of the HACC staff emphasized that the purchase of apartments for new judges can be financed by the court's collection of deposits into a special fund.
For example, on September 23, HACC collected UAH 15 million of the bail, which was paid for MP Andrii Odarchenko (Servant of the People), who recently fled abroad.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention is checking the incomes of two judges of the HACC during the war.
