During meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump stated he has good relationship with putin. What did president answer?
U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump said he has a good relationship with russian dictator putin. He said this during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Voice of America writes.
At the meeting, Trump repeated his statement that he could quickly end the war in Ukraine if elected.
"We have a very good relationship, and I also have a very good relationship, as you know, with President Putin. And I think if we win, I think we'll resolve this very quickly," he said.
Zelenskyy replied that he hopes that relations with him are still better [than with Putin].
Recall that earlier Donald Trump published a letter in which the Ukrainian president asked him for a personal meeting.
Besides, Zelenskyy's visit to the U.S. turned into a loud scandal, due to which the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, appealed to the President of Ukraine with a demand to immediately dismiss the ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, due to alleged interference in the American election.
The speaker accused Markarova of having organized Zelenskyy's visit to a plant in Pennsylvania where weapons are produced for Ukraine. Zelenskyy was accompanied by representatives of the Democratic Party, but no Republicans were invited. Johnson said that Zelenskyy's visit was "clearly a partisan campaign event designed to help Democrats and is clearly election interference.”
