Russian propaganda claims alleged destruction of 4 F-16s. Center for Countering Disinformation denies it
Russian propagandists spread information about Ukraine's alleged loss of four F-16s as a result of a missile attack by the aggressor state. It is not true.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
Thus, it is indicated that russian resources, in particular the propagandist Anatoly Shariy, are spreading information about the alleged loss of four F-16 fighter jets as a result of an "unexpected missile strike" today, September 26. The department drew attention to the fact that this information is provided without any confirmation or concrete facts.
"The information does not correspond to reality. Such reports are another fake aimed at manipulating public opinion. This is a fiction created to strengthen the narrative about the "inefficiency" of Western aircraft," the message reads.
The NSDC Center for Countering Disinformation recalled that russian propaganda began to spread fakes about the downing of the F-16 even before the fighter jets appeared in Ukraine.
We will remind, on August 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the loss of the first F-16 fighter in Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 29, Member of Parliament Mariana Bezuhla stated that the F-16 had been shot down by the Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex.
At the same time, American and Ukrainian investigators do not consider "friendly fire" to be the cause of the downing of the fighter.
In particular, the media said that the Ukrainian F-16 plane, piloted by pilot Oleksii Mes, probably crashed after being hit by a downed russian missile.
