Ukrainian troops continue to advance in Kursk Oblast - Institute for the Study of War

On September 14, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continued their offensive in the Glushkovsky Raion of the Kursk Oblast. Ukrainian troops advanced in the fields south of Tetkino and north of Sudzha and captured several villages.

This is stated in the russian Offensive Campaign Assessment by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) as of September 14, 2024, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Thus, geolocation footage published on September 13 shows that Ukrainian forces are operating in Veseloye (southwest of Glushkovo), and a russian military blogger said that Ukrainian forces captured the settlement.

Russian military bloggers also claimed that Ukrainian troops advanced west of Medvezhye (southwest of Glushkovo) and in the fields south of Tetkino (about 25 km southwest of Glushkovo) along the border with the Sumy Region.

Besides, russian sources claimed that on September 13 and 14, Ukrainian forces continued their assault near Medvezhye, Veseloye, Obukhovka (immediately south of Veseloye), and Novy Put (south of Veseloye).

Russian military bloggers also claimed that units of the russian 56th Airborne (VDV) Regiment (7th VDV Division) and 106th Airborne Division were repelling Ukrainian assaults in the Glushkovsky Raion.

It is reported that on September 14, Ukrainian forces continued to advance north of Sudzha amid ongoing offensive operations along the entire front line in the Kursk Oblast. A russian military blogger claimed that Ukrainian forces captured the Cherkasskoye Porechnoye (north of Sudzha).

Russian sources also claimed that Ukrainian forces continued to attack southwest of Korenevo near Apanasovka; to the southeast of Korenevo near Lyubimivka and Obukhovka; to the east of Korenevo near Maryevka; and to the southeast of Sudzha near Russkaya Konopelka on September 13 and 14.

At the same time, russian troops recently regained territory in the Kursk Oblast and continued to counterattack on September 14. Geolocation footage released on September 13 indicated that russian troops had entered the western part of Lyubimovka during a company-sized mechanized assault, and a russian blogger claimed that russian troops had advanced to the southwestern outskirts of Lyubimovka, as well as the fields northwest of Darino (south of Lyubimovka).

Geolocation images published on September 14 show infantry from russia's 810th Naval Infantry Brigade (Black Sea Fleet, Southern Military District [SMD]) operating in central Borki (southeast of Sudzha), although another military blogger claimed that Ukrainian forces remain in the western part of the settlement.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, analysts of the Institute for the Study of War believe that the russian federation will have to transfer more troops to the Kursk Oblast in order to counterattack.
