About 60 MW of planned 1 GW of gas generation have been built - Kudrytskyi
Former head of the Ukrenergo national energy company, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, states that of the planned 1 GW of new gas generation for 2024, about 60 MW have been built.
He told about this in an interview with Economic Pravda, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Now this is completely the sphere of responsibility of the Ministry of Energy. It is now engaged in determining who and how much will build, controlling this process... Perhaps hundreds have been built in the last 2-3 days, but I, for example, know a figure of about 60 MW... This is in general. Of which one station was connected for a year and a half. The second, as far as I know, was put into operation recently," Kudrytskyi said.
At the same time, according to him, plans for the construction of decentralized generation appeared as early as the beginning of 2023.
"For some reason, we rarely mention that the story about the need to build decentralized generation was formulated at the beginning of 2023 after the first missile and drone campaign of the russians. And this is also a matter of correct planning and priorities. If at the beginning of 2023 we accepted 2-3 things, which the regulator eventually adopted in 2024, then this decentralized generation could have already been built," Kudrytskyi said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 6, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced that hundreds of MW of the planned 1 GW of new gas generation for 2024 had already been built, and 600 MW had been financed.
In June, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine intends to build 1 GW of flexible gas generation in 2024 and another 4 GW in the coming years.
