Overnight into Thursday, September 12, the army of the aggressor country of the russian federation massively attacked Konotop. Many wounded, the city without electricity and water.
The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office reports this.
"As of 8 a.m., 14 civilians sought medical help, 7 apartment buildings, 1 private residential building, medical and educational institutions, 3 cars, a garage cooperative, a store, and a bank were damaged," the message reads.
According to the investigation, on the night of September 11-12, using methods of warfare prohibited by international law, the enemy attacked critical and civil infrastructure facilities in the city of Konotop, Sumy Region, according to preliminary data, with UAVs of the Shahed type.
Under the procedural leadership of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As a result of the attack of the russian army, the situation with electricity supply in Konotop of the Sumy Region is critical - it is not known when the lights will appear in the houses of the residents. Water will be supplied hourly according to the schedule, Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported on Telegram on Thursday, September 12.
The city's energy infrastructure suffered significant damage. Power engineers are doing everything to give electricity to the hospital and the water supply.
"When electricity will appear in residents' homes at least hourly - no one can predict," the mayor said.
Water will be supplied hourly, the exact water supply schedule will be announced later.
The mayor said that a large number of educational institutions were damaged in Konotop. The exact number is currently unknown. Damage - mainly broken windows (very large number) and doors. Today, kindergartens will work in the mode of duty groups.
The buildings of a large number of medical buildings were damaged (mainly broken windows). The medical equipment was not seriously damaged. Hospitals are working.
"Appeals from victims continue to come in. Currently, two men have been hospitalized. One of them is in a very critical condition (coma). By the way, the one who is in a coma was on his way to save people..." Semenikhin wrote.
The mayor also added that a section of the tram track in the city center was destroyed. Tram traffic will be limited. "Only route number three," the mayor wrote.
