Denmark was ready to pass to Ukraine F-16s at beginning of war – Kingdom’s Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen has confirmed that her country does not restrict the use of F-16 fighters, which it transferred to Ukraine.

The Prime Minister stated this during the Globsec Conference in Prague.

Mette Frederiksen believes that Ukraine has received Western fighters later than it should have happened.

"I am sorry that the supply of the F-16s took so long. Personally, I was ready to transfer them to Ukraine from the very beginning of the war. But there was a discussion about whether it was the right decision or not," she said.

Frederiksen did not clarify who was inhibiting the supply of aircraft, but expressed the conviction that there is still a task that Ukraine must get from the West all the weapons it needs.

"It is impossible to win without weapons. And the only way to win is to give Ukrainians what they need," she stressed.

Frederiksen also confirmed that Denmark has no restrictions on the use of weapons provided, including aircraft.

"We do not set a restriction on the use of the F-16s, only that the international law must be observed. In the rest, there is no restriction on use," she explained.
