Air Defense downs 14 out of 16 enemy Shaheds overnight
Overnight into Friday, August 23, russian troops attacked the territory of Ukraine with two ballistic missiles and 16 strike UAVs; the air defense forces managed to destroy 14 enemy drones.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on Telegram, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Overnight into August 23, 2024, the enemy attacked with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Voronezh Oblast and 16 Shahed-type strike UAVs (Yeysk, Kursk (russia) launch areas)," the message reads.
As a result of anti-aircraft combat by aviation, electronic warfare units, and calculations of mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, 14 Shaheds were shot down.
Two more drones were lost in location, but there was no information about the destruction.
Anti-aircraft defense worked in Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Sumy Regions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 22, the russians attacked the territory of Ukraine with Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, and 10 Shahed attack drones; the air defense forces managed to destroy two enemy drones, two more fell on their own, while most missiles did not reach its goals.
