Syrskyi explains what AFU actions in Kursk Oblast will depend on

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the further actions of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk Oblast will depend on the operational situation on the ground.

Syrskyi made a corresponding statement on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast was launched with the aim of creating a safe zone and stopping the shelling of the territory of the Sumy Region by the russians.

Syrskyi emphasized that two weeks after the start of the operation, almost 1,300 square kilometers of the territory of the russian region are under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced to the depth of the enemy's defense from 28 to 35 km, seized 1,263 square kilometers of territory and took control of 93 settlements," said the Commander-in-Chief.

He noted that the russians are trying to prevent the advance of the Ukrainian military. To do this, they conduct a maneuverable defense and transfer forces from other areas of the front.

According to Syrskyi, the further actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast will depend on the development of the operational situation.

As the Ukrainian News agency reported, earlier today, August 20, the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation announced the creation of three new groups of troops to protect the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod Oblasts.
