It is time to adopt defense legislative package for Ukraine - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that it is time to adopt a defense legislative package for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said this in a video message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Now, already in August, some legal positions of our state need to be strengthened. It's time to adopt important legislative things - a defense legislative package for Ukraine. These are decisions that will help Ukrainian soldiers, the entire Ukrainian society, and our state institutions," he said.
In particular, he noted that it is necessary to clearly guarantee at the legislative level that Ukrainian soldiers who take part in the Kursk operation on the territory of russia and will take part in all other actions on the territory of the aggressor state, will receive all the payments and preferences that are provided for the front line.
The President also believes that now is the time to adopt a law on simplified granting of Ukrainian citizenship to foreigners who defend Ukraine, and also to extend it to their relatives.
In addition, it is necessary to legislatively regulate the issue of trophy weapons that Ukrainian soldiers acquire in battles.
Zelenskyy also insists on the adoption of a law on stripping collaborators and traitors, who fled to russia, who serve russia's aggressor country or justify its war, of any ranks and awards of Ukraine.
"I’m asking the Verkhovna Rada to convene to consider these issues urgently in the near future," the President said.
He added that in addition to the decisions mentioned by him, there are some other, no less important legislative initiatives that strengthen Ukraine's independence, in particular, spiritual independence, which should also be adopted promptly.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in July, Zelenskyy proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to deprive of state awards for popularizing or propagandizing the aggressor state of russia or committing other illegal actions against Ukraine.
On July 23, the MPs blocked the rostrum of the parliament, demanding to consider the ban of the russian church in Ukraine.
On July 24, the Speaker of the Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced that the Verkhovna Rada would concentrate on finalizing the bill on banning the russian Church in Ukraine for the earliest possible submission and vote in the session hall.
