AFU digging trenches and not going to leave Kursk Oblast of russia - Forbes
Ukrainian troops continue to advance in the Kursk Oblast of the aggressor state of russia and have begun to entrench themselves, which indicates plans to hold this territory.
This was reported by the American publication Forbes.
There is more and more evidence that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are not just advancing deep into the territory of russia, but are also planning to stay in those territories, the publication writes. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are digging in, and the russians are doing the same along or near the existing front line.
"The fact that both sides are strengthening their positions does not mean that the Ukrainians have finished their offensive. It also does not mean that the russians cannot counterattack - and push the Ukrainians to the border, 10 miles (16 km, - ed.). But it does mean that the stabilization of the front line - and the long-term Ukrainian seizure of part of Kursk - is on the table," the article says.
The territory of the Kursk Oblast may become another major front in russia's 29-month war against Ukraine. According to Forbes, more than 10,000 military personnel are currently stationed in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation and the adjacent Ukrainian region of Sumy. And according to the Ukrainian Center for Defense Strategies, the russian Northern Group of Forces is trying to transfer 10-11 battalions, which is about 4,000 troops, to the front line. At the same time, on paper, this group has 48,000 servicemen, many of whom are stuck in Vovchansk, Kharkiv Region.
If russia refuses to advance in Vovchansk and other front-line cities, the aggressor can transfer significant forces to Kursk: "Forcing the russians to exhaust their forces on other fronts may have been the main goal of the Ukrainian invasion corps," the publication summarizes.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing in the Kursk Oblast of russia.
On August 11, the Financial Times wrote that russian forces were unable to dislodge the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Kursk Oblast despite the arrival of reinforcements.
We will remind you that on August 9, the member of the State Duma of the russian federation Andrey Gurulyov called on russians to prepare for the fact that the russian army will not be able to dislodge the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Kursk Oblast in a short period of time.
