Kursk NPP preparing for AFU attack, personnel partially sent home – media

At the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, which is located approximately 60 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, preparations have begun for a possible attack by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is evidenced by the reports of russian media and Telegram channels.

The Bloknot propaganda publication claims, citing its own sources, that preparations for the defense of the nuclear power plant began yesterday.

The publication writes that the construction sites of the new power units were de-energized, and the builders left the facility.

The russians also allegedly blocked the entrances leading to the nuclear plant.

This information is confirmed by the recently published message of the russian Rosatom state corporation.

"In connection with the introduction of the state of emergency at the federal level in the region, a decision was made to temporarily reduce the number of personnel on the territory of the Kursk NPP-2 power unit construction site," the message reads.

The russian anonymous VChK-OGPU Telegram channel also reported on the preparation of the Kursk NPP for possible hostilities.

In its daily report, the channel did not give any details about the preparations of the russians, only writing that "according to the information received, the Kursk NPP is being prepared for a possible attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine."

Around noon, the mayor of Kurchatov (the city where the Kursk NPP is located), Igor Korpunkov, wrote that the fighting was allegedly going on several tens of kilometers from the city.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 7, the russian publication Important Stories wrote that the Kursk NPP allegedly remained virtually unprotected. According to the publication, the russian Guard military personnel guarding the station were allegedly sent to the border to repel attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recall that on August 8, The Economist reported with reference to a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces that the Ukrainian command considers the possibility of capturing the Kursk NPP unlikely.
