Ukraine asks Mexico to detain putin if he comes to inauguration of President Sheinbaum

The new President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, invited the head of russia, vladimir putin, to her inauguration.

The inauguration should take place on October 1. The President is already sending invitations to the event. So, she refused to invite Peru or Ecuador, because she does not agree with their politics, but invited the dictator from the russian federation, vladimir putin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also received an invitation.

The Embassy of Ukraine reacted to this. They reminded me that Mexico recognizes the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, so putin may be arrested if he comes there.

"We hope that the Mexican government knows that vladimir putin is a war criminal who has a warrant for his arrest on suspicion of abducting and forcibly transferring Ukrainian children to russia. This shameful crime will be one of the reasons why Putin, along with the rest... one time will have to face justice," the Embassy said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Claudia Sheinbaum, who was previously the mayor of Mexico City, won the presidential election in Mexico in June. This is the first time in the history of Mexico that a woman will lead the country.
