Ukrainian manufacturers providing 70% of cost of contracts for weapons supply for AFU - Defense Ministry
In 2024, Ukrainian manufacturers provide 70% of the value of contracts for the supply of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov, this share may change depending on production needs and capabilities.
In particular, the procurement of weapons for the Armed Forces is carried out by the Defense Procurement Agency SE.
It is noted that the Defense Procurement Agency is actively developing international cooperation within the policy of direct interaction with weapons manufacturers.
Thus, the Agency has already concluded more than 20 contracts with global arms manufacturers from 10 countries, mainly from Europe and the United States.
The head of the Defense Procurement Agency, Maryna Bezrukova, emphasized that the Agency only contracts weapons that have passed codification by the Ministry of Defense.
"My advice to manufacturers: provide your products to the military, collect feedback. Equipment that is in great demand on the battlefield passes codification and enters the list much faster," she said.
Regarding the terms of delivery of equipment to combat units, the head of the Defense Procurement Agency explained that it depends on the conditions of supply and logistics.
For example, the purchased DJI Mavic UAVs quickly reach the front, while the production of new equipment takes longer.
Bezrukova assured that the Agency is making every effort to debureaucratize the processes so that the necessary equipment and weapons arrive at the front on time, this contributes to increasing the efficiency of defense procurement and strengthening Ukraine's defense capability.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the beginning of August, the Ministry of Defense announced that it had codified and approved for use in the army the Dzura armored vehicle, designed to perform various tactical tasks.
