Russia's Defense Ministry deletes message about AFU's retreat from Kursk Oblast
The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country, russia, edited its message from August 6, removing the fragment that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is allegedly retreating from the territory of the Kursk Oblast.
This follows from a statement by the russian online publication ASTRA.
As ASTRA writes, a number of russian propagandists on social networks drew attention to the fact that the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation edited one of the messages in its official Telegram channel.
Initially, it referred to the "retreat of the Ukrainian DRG to its territory" as well as its "insignificant losses."
The message was later edited. The information about the retreat of the AFU was removed. Instead, it was written that "the enemy was defeated by fire."
On the right side of the screenshot, you can see the edited mark, which indicates that the Ministry of Defense of the russian Federation has changed its message.
ASTRA also writes that russian propagandists admit that the AFU was able to advance in the areas of several settlements in the south of the Kursk Oblast.
Propagandist Yurii Podoliaka wrote that the Ukrainian units "managed to repel our units along the Mykolaieve-Dariyino-Dariyino-Sverdlikovo-Gogolivka-Oleshnya line and gain a foothold there."
The Fighterbomber Telegram channel, which is popular among russians and is considered close to the russian communist party, also gave its assessment of what is happening in the Kursk Oblast.
"There are losses and there will be, because such a cut has not happened for a long time. And on the territory of old russia, there was no such cut at all during the whole period of the Soviet Union," wrote the author of the channel.
What is happening in the Kursk Oblast?
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the morning of August 6, it became known that active hostilities had begun in the border region of the Kursk Oblast.
Russian propagandists and residents on social media said that AFU units had crossed the border of the region and started advancing in the northern direction.
Later, this information was confirmed by the acting governor of the Kursk Oblast, Oleksiy Smirnov. According to him, the soldiers of the russian occupation army are trying to restrain the AFU offensive.
Until now, Ukraine has not officially commented on the information about the presence of AFU units in the territory of the Kursk Oblast and the hostilities in the region.
However, on the afternoon of August 6, Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Counter-Disinformation Center at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said that the group of russian troops in the Kursk Oblast was unable to maintain its defense.
There were no other comments from the official representatives of Ukraine regarding what is happening.
On the evening of August 6, the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation confirmed the information about the breakthrough of the AFU border of the Kursk Oblast. In order to contain the Ukrainian units, the occupiers were forced to send reserves.
