Air Defense downs all 89 enemy Shaheds and a guided air missile overnight

Overnight into Wednesday, July 31, russian troops attacked the territory of Ukraine with a Kh-59 guided air missile and 89 Shahed-type UAVs; the air defense forces shot down all 89 drones and the missile.

This follows from a statement by the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted on Telegram, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Overnight into July 31, 2024, the enemy attacked with a Kh-59 guided air missile from the airspace of the occupied Kherson Region and 89 Shahed-type strike UAVs from the areas of Yeisk, Seshcha, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (russia). The main direction of the attack was the Kyiv Region!" the message says.

According to the Air Force, out of 89 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs detected by the Air Force radar units, all 89 were shot down.

The Kh-59 guided air missile was also shot down, with which the enemy attacked the Mykolayiv Region.

According to the report, this was one of the most massive attacks by Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs.

"The enemy used the same number of Shaheds on New Year's Eve, January 1, 2024. Just like then, today, the Ukrainian air defense withstood and repelled a massive attack by enemy drones," the press service of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Mobile fire groups of all Defense Forces of Ukraine, tactical aviation of the Air Force and army aviation of the Ground Forces, anti-aircraft missile units, and EW of the Air Force were involved in repelling the air attack.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, overnight into July 29, russian troops attacked the territory of Ukraine with a Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missile and ten Shahed-type attack drones. The air defense forces shot down nine drones and a missile.
