Biden addresses Americans after assassination attempt on Trump
U.S. President Joe Biden stated the need to reduce the degree of tension in the country's political life after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.
Biden's statement is cited by the press service of the White House.
In his address to Americans, President Biden said that in a democracy, differences in political views are possible, but politics "should never be a battlefield."
The President wished Trump a speedy recovery and called a 50-year-old firefighter named Corey, who was killed during a Trump rally, a hero.
Biden also added that the investigation into the attack is ongoing, and the shooter's motives remain unclear.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during a rally in Pennsylvania, a man shot several times at Donald Trump, who was speaking on stage. One of the bullets hit the presidential candidate's earlobe. Trump was quickly evacuated from the stage.
Later, the mass media reported that the shooter had been eliminated — he was shooting from the roof of the building opposite the scene.
