Scholz and Macron stand up for Biden after series of slips of the tongue
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron were sympathetic to US President Joe Biden's slips of the tongue at the NATO summit in Washington on Thursday, July 11.
DW writes about it.
"Slips of the tongue happen. If you keep an eye on everyone all the time, you will find enough of them," said Scholz, commenting on the incident at the request of journalists.
"However, this does not change one iota of what President Biden made very clear in his speech," he added.
Macron made a similar statement.
"It happens to everyone, it happens to me too," he said.
Let us recall that at the summit, Biden misspoke several times, mistakenly calling Vice President Kamala Harris “Trump,” and mistakenly calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “putin” when he invited him to speak.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the American news site Axios stated that more and more representatives of the US Democratic Party expect the incumbent President Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential election.
The Voice of America publication reported that Democrats are very concerned about the results of Biden's speech at the debates with Trump.
