Ukrenergo predicts significant shortage of electricity on Thursday

The Ukrenergo national energy company predicts a significant shortage of electricity on Thursday, May 9, for almost the whole day.

This is stated in the company's message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"There is a significant electricity deficit in the power system almost all day long, except for daytime hours. The reason is the large-scale damage to Ukrainian power plants, due to which they cannot produce the same amount of electricity as before the attack. During the day, the amount of electricity deficit decreases due to the active operation of renewable energy power plants. At other hours, there is a significant shortage of electricity. In order to avoid outages of domestic consumers, Ukrenergo applies all possible measures to overcome the shortage: imports and emergency assistance from European countries, limiting the consumption of industrial consumers," the message says.

During the day, it is planned to import electricity from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova in the total volume of 16,699 MWh, with the maximum capacity in individual hours up to 1,418 MW.
