The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has announced the detention of several dozen Russian soldiers during the battles for Debaltseve and the Donetsk airport.
Chief of General Staff Viktor Muzhenko made the announcement at a news briefing.
According to Muzhenko, ATO forces have repeatedly detained Russian military personnel in Ukraine.
He said that the largest number of Russians was detained during the battles for the Donetsk airport and Debaltseve.
"There were quite a few, a few dozens," said Muzhenko.
According to him, the detained Russian troops positioned themselves as local fighters.
In addition, according to Muzhenko, citizens of other former Soviet republics have repeatedly been detained while fighting on the side of separatists.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, ATO forces detained two Russian soldiers from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry near the village of Schastia (Luhansk region) on May 16.
