Kyiv does not intend to change the tariffs for heating and hot water supply in 2020/2021.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this at a news briefing, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The issue of tariffs is raised every heating season. The cost of electricity and gas, which are the main components for generation of heat and supply of hot water, is increasing and this is the reason for the revision of heating and hot water tariffs. Kyiv has calculations that are justified and approved, but the cost of heating and hot water supply services will not change this heating season. Residents of apartment buildings will pay for utilities at 2019 tariffs," he said.

According to him, the people of Kyiv can affect the amount in utility bills today.

He said that almost 800 houses have already taken advantage of the city's energy-saving programs.

Thermal modernization of houses can reduce utility bills by two-three times.

"And the capital city continues to implement such programs. We have allocated more than UAH 150 million from the budget for financing energy-saving measures in 2021," Klitschko said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, 32 warming centers will begin operating in Kyiv on January 14.
