Serhiy Lovochkin: The Law On Reintegration Of Donbas Should Be The Result Of Agreements Between All Parties To Negotiations

The law on reintegration of Donbass should bring peace closer, and this is possible only if it suits all interested parties. This was stated to journalists in the Verkhovna Rada by MP from the Opposition bloc Serhiy Lovochkin. In addition, the politician listed the primary laws that the parliament should adopt next year.

This is said in respective statement by the press-service of the politician, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

“The position of the Opposition bloc is absolutely clear: the law should be the result of agreements between the negotiators. That is, between the EU, the US, Russia, Ukraine and the unrecognized “republics”. If it is a product of agreements – it will bring us closer to peace, if not – then, on the contrary, it will distance, and such a law is not necessary for us. After all, if we vote for those things that continue the war, then why do we need such a parliament?! Our position is clear: first, the agreements are necessary, then the law – we will not support another one,” Serhiy Lovochkin stressed.

The parliamentarian also named a number of priority laws, on which the Opposition bloc will insist next year.

“First, it is necessary to change the budget, raise social standards and finance economic sectors, strengthen decentralization and financing of the regions, improve financing of education and science – all this is the most important,” the opposition leader said.

Secondly, according to him, the Opposition bloc will insist on reducing utility tariffs.

“People are not able to pay current tariffs. The arrears for tariffs, which people do not pay for the first months of the heating season is already UAH 30 billion. This is an indicator that people simply do not have the money to pay. Therefore, there should be a more effective approach here,” Serhiy Lovochkin emphasized.

“The third is closely related to the second: it is necessary to increase subsidies for those who cannot pay by tariffs. In addition, we must do everything to ensure that the so-called “medical reform” in its present form is abolished. After all, it will be a huge stress for people, when they start paying money for those services starting from January 1, which are simply impossible to pay for,” the politician added.

According to the MP, another problem is the “pension reform”.

“We are against increasing of the retirement age for people, because in our country with our standard of living and the level of pensions it is simply impossible,” the MP explained.

“Also in the new year, all possible steps must be taken to establish peace. We again return to the law on reintegration of Donbas, to the package of laws of the Opposition bloc on ensuring the rights of settlers. All this should be accepted. We should facilitate people’s lives, and not vice versa,” the politician said.
