Nika-Tera Port Boosts Cargo Handling By 10.3% To 3.8 Million Tons In 11M

In the first eleven months of 2017, the Mykolaiv-based Nika-Tera sea special port, part of the port business of Group DF, boosted cargo handling by 10.3% to 3.82 million tons year over year.

Press service of Group DF has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, handling of grain and grain legumes rose by 22%, bulk cargo handling rose by 3% and mineral fertilizers handling decreased by 34%.

In the total amount of cargo handling, the share of grain and grain legumes made 63%, of bulk cargoes - 30% and mineral fertilizers - 5%.

The rest 2% was chipped wood, phosphorites and coal.

In the first eleven months of 2017, the port handled 211 vessels.

According to head of the port Alim Agakishiev, the terminal remains one of the leaders in the region in terms of the volumes of grain legumes handling.

"We keep on raising handling of grain legumes, which are typically handled crops here. The 11M results do prove that," Agakishiev said.

The head of the port also noted that in the last year, new port operators have appeared in the market engaged in rendering services of cargo handling.

In his word that toughens competition in the market.

According to the report, over UAH 1.5 billion has been invested in the enterprise after it was entered by the new owner, Group DF of businessman Dmitry Firtash.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2016, the Nika-Tera sea specialized port handled 4.022 million tons of cargoes.
