The State Border Guard Service (SBGS) has denied Member of European Parliament Christine Morvai from Hungary's Jobbik party entry to Ukraine because of the decision by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to ban her from entering Ukraine until July 2019.

The State Border Service's spokesman Oleh Slobodian announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to Slobodian, SBGS officials turned back a Hungarian political figure, whom the Security Service of Ukraine has banned from entering Ukraine until July 2019, on the border with Hungary in Zakarpattia region at around 15:00 on Wednesday.

"Member of European Parliament Morvai Krisztina from the Hungarian radical party Jobbik arrived at the Luzhniki border crossing. Border guards carried out the SBU's instructions regarding this person during passport control," Slobodian wrote.

According to available information, the European MEP visited the non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 2014 and expressed support for the self-declared leaders of these territories.

She was informed of the decision to refuse her entry into Ukraine and the legal grounds for the decision.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the SBU banned Russian musician Vasily Vakulenko (stage name Basta) from entering Ukraine in September.
