The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine suggests that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine set the 20-percent annual increase in excise tax for cigarettes until 2025 to bring it to the level of EUR 90 per thousand cigarettes by the said year.
This is said in the bill No. 7110-1 registered at the Verkhovna Rada on September 18, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The bill is elaborated to implement the Ukraine - European Union Association Agreement, in particular, to bring excise tax rates for tobacco goods in line with respective EU directive.
The bill has been agreed with the Health Ministry, Economic Development and Trade Ministry, State Fiscal Service and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Finance has initiated the 20-percent annual increase of excise tax for tobacco goods.
