PGO Running Searches At Ukrenergo, At Home Of Ukrenergo's Acting Director Kovalchuk

Officers of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine conduct searches in the premises of the Ukrenergo national power generating company and at home of the company's acting director Vsevolod Kovalchuk.

Director for Communications and International Cooperation of Ukrenergo Mykhailo Bno-Airiian, Acting Director of Ukrenergo Kovalchuk have written this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"According to the warrants, the searches have to do with Ukrenergo's statutory activity, investment program and procurements," Kovalchuk said.

According to Kovalchuk, law enforcers have found nothing illegal in his home.

A ruling of the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv of June 22 says the Prosecutor General's Office is holding pre-trial investigation into fact of a scheme of embezzlement of budget funding through procurements at unreasonably high prices.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in compliance with unaudited financial statement, in 2016, Ukrenergo increased its net profit 3.5 times or UAH 2,139.7 million to UAH 3,012.096 million year over year.

Ukrenergo serves as the centralized control dispatcher of the energy system of Ukraine as it dispatches electric energy from power stations to power networks of energy distribution companies.

In addition, the company is charged with the function of an organizer of auctions on granting access to the transfrontier overhead power lines for export of power.
