PrivatBank Chairperson Shlapak Resigns From His Position

Chairperson of the board of nationalized PrivatBank Oleksandr Shlapak has announced about his decision to resign.

Ukrainian News Agency has learnt this from a representative of the bank.

At the same time, the bank officials said the final decision had not been taken yet.

Press service of the bank elaborated that Shlapak fulfilled the goals that he had been tasked with, in particular, stabilized the financial situation in the bank, and that he plans to complete his mandate soon.

The bank's board might consider his letter of resignation in late July.

Shlapak has been chairperson of PrivatBank since December 2016.

From February to December 2014, Shlapak had occupied the post of the Minister of Finance in the Arseniy Yatsenyuk's government.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the December 18, 2016 meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to nationalize PrivatBank based on a respective proposal from the National Bank.

According to the decision, the state became the owner of 100% of shares of the bank through the Ministry of Finance.
