The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine has decided to suspend shipment of cargoes from the occupied territories of Donbas across the contact line starting 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov announced this to the press, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Pursuant to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council before 1 p.m. today all motor roads and railways leading to the contact line will be blocked," he said.

He assured that law enforcement agencies would not allow any provocations in the zone of the antiterrorist operation.

Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov states that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is urged to elaborate and implement a plan for safe and sustainable functioning of the fuel and energy sectors, analyze negative impact on Ukraine's economy and national budget and take measures to minimize them.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Police and National Guard with the participation of the Security Service of Ukraine are urged to immediate cease any transfer of cargoes through the line of contact.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Poroshenko has suggested that the NSDC suspend transport connection with militant-held territories.
