Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Alexander Hug says that the Armed Forces and militants violate the agreements reached in Minsk, Belarus on February 12, 2015. He said this in an interview for Ukrainska Pravda, Ukrainian News Agency reports. He avoided a direct answer to the question, which side provoked the escalation of the conflict in Avdiivka, Donetsk Region. Hug says that the SMM observed damage of civilian infrastructure on either side of the boundary line. In his words, both sides violate the ceasefire. The Deputy Chief Monitor pointed to the need of immediate ceasefire and pullback of heavy weaponry. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine is worried that the SMM is carrying out monitoring and verification of the process of disengagement of the Armed Forces units and armed groups of separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions from the boundary line in the approved sectors not round-the-clock. The SMM says that it carries out no monitoring at night for security reasons.
