SBU Decides Not To Ban Entry Of French Presidential Candidate Le Pen

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has decided not to ban entry of French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen.

Oleksandr Tkachuk, the head of staff of the SBU head, announced this to the press, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Tkachuk said the SBU had received an answer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to its inquiry regarding expediency of introduction of the ban on presidential candidate Marine Le Pen.

"The decision to ban entry of Marine Le Pen has not been endorsed. Following the study of all information and opinions of agencies (SBU and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) a joint decision was made not to ban the entry at present," Tkachuk said.

He did not specify reasons for the decision.

Prior to this, the Security Service of Ukraine moved forward with an initiative to ban entry of Marine Le Pen following her statements on Crimea.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Verkhovna Rada member Iryna Friz (Petro Poroshenko Bloc) said she was ready to organize a visit of French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen to the zone of the antiterrorist operation in east Ukraine.
