The European Union is insisting that both parties to the conflict in Donbas observe the ceasefire.

The press service of the European External Action Service announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We call for the fighting to stop immediately. This would also allow for the urgent repair of critical infrastructures. Full observance of the ceasefire is a crucial step towards the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, which is the basis for a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the conflict, respecting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the statement said.

According to the statement, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission must be granted full and unrestricted access to all conflict-affected areas.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the headquarters of the antiterrorist operation has reported a massive attack by armored units of militants near the Donetsk airport on 30 January.

The Donetsk regional military and civilian administration has declared a state of emergency in Avdiivka and set up a headquarters for addressing the aftermath of the incident.

Shelling by militants cut power supplies to a water purification plant and the Avdiivka byproduct coke plant on January 30.
