United States Backs UN General Assembly Committee's Resolution Declaring Russia Occupier, Crimea And Sevastopol Temporarily Occupied Territories

The United States supports the adoption of a resolution that declared Russia as a state-occupier and declared the Russia-annexed Crimea and Sevastopol as temporarily occupied territories at a meeting of the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Committee (the Third Committee) of the United Nations' General Assembly on 15 November.

United States Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News reports.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Petro Poroshenko has thanked the member countries of the United Nations that supported the resolution entitled "The Human Rights Situation in the Crimea and Sevastopol."

Seventy-three countries voted for adoption of the resolution, 23 voted against, and 76 abstained.
