President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has confirmed that Ukraine has met all criteria for the European Union to abolish visas for Ukrainian citizens. Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a statement made by the presidential press service after President Petro Poroshenko’ telephone call with Juncker. The pair also discussed the situation around ratification by the Netherlands of the EU – Ukraine Association Agreement. Juncker stressed that the Association Agreement\/Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement is still effective. They also discussed the agenda of the EU-Ukraine summit. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the 18th EU-Ukraine summit is taking place in Brussels, Belgium on November 24. Its primary objective will be securing effective EU support for Ukraine in resisting Russia’s aggression by extending the sanctions until the full implementation of the agreements reached in Minsk, Belarus on February 12, 2015. During the summit they will discuss issues of implementation of the ‘Minsk accords’, completion of ratification of the EU-Ukraine AA, visa liberalisation, free trade, deepening of the trade and economic and sectorial integration of Ukraine into the European Community, and outline further reform priorities on basis of the AA.
