Ukraine and Norway have signed a partnership declaration.

President Petro Poroshenko announced this at a joint news briefing with Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The determining factor is the fact that Norway has turned out to be our reliable friend and strategic partner today, in difficult times for Ukraine. I was extremely pleased to sign a declaration on partnership between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Norway with Mrs. Prime Minister today," he said.

Poroshenko added that Norway condemned Russia in the document for its illegal occupation of Crimea and the continuing aggression in Donbas.

Norway also pledged support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Ukraine.

During talks, Poroshenko informed the Norwegian prime minister about the situation in Donbas and Norway confirmed its position that it is necessary to maintain the sanctions on Russia until full restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Crimea, inclusive.

Poroshenko also informed the Norwegian side about Ukraine's initiative at the General Assembly of the United Nations regarding the state of human rights in Crimea and Norway reiterated its support for Ukraine's position.

Poroshenko also thanked Norway for the humanitarian support it provided to Ukraine, including internally displaced persons.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Poroshenko has called on Norwegian businesses to participate in the privatization process in Ukraine.
