Danyliuk Denies Agreement On Meeting With Russian Finance Minister Siluanov In Germany

Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk denies having agreed a meeting with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov in Germany to discuss the question Ukraine's debt of USD 3 billion before Russia.

Finance Minister Danyliuk gave the position at a press conference, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"No specific propositions have been received," he said.

The Ukrainian minister said the sides should seek opportunities to arrive at an agreement regarding the future of the debt outside courts.

In Danyliuk's opinion Russia should demonstrate its will to settle the issue outside courts.

He said Ukraine had strong positions in the court.

According to Danyliuk, if such a meeting is appointed, Ukraine will take part in it in the presence of the German side and the International Monetary Fund.

On September 28, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said he had moved the venue of a meeting with Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk on Ukraine's debt of USD 3 billion from Washington (United States) to Germany.

It was reported that Russian Finance Minister Siluanov canceled his trip to Washington for participating in a regular meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank scheduled for October 7-9.

Siluanov and Danyliuk were expected to meet there.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Russian Finance Minister Siluanov said on September 12 that he was willing to meet with Finance Minister Danyliuk in Washington in October.

Siluanov noted that the High Court in London has scheduled a hearing on Ukraine's debt of USD 3 billion for January 17, 2017.

The Russian finance minister has said that Russia is ready for pre-trial negotiations and resolution of this issue.

Ukraine has said that it is ready to hold pre-trial negotiations with Russia on the debt of USD 3 billion.
