Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy has underlined that it is important to finish the July 2014 crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 in Donetsk Region and bring those responsible for the downing to justice. Ukrainian News Agency has learned this from a statement made by Mogherini. «The the Joint Investigation Team's (JIT) work as regards individual suspects continues; it is crucial that the investigators can complete their work, independently and thoroughly. To ensure that those responsible for the downing of MH17 are held accountable and brought to justice, the criminal investigation needs the continuing support of the international community,» reads the stament. She underlined that all States that are in a position to assist the investigation and prosecution of those responsible must do so, as demanded by UN Security Council Resolution 2166. «Today's interim results of the independent criminal investigation, presented by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), demonstrate that important progress has been made, answering many questions that have borne heavily on those who lost their loved ones on 17 July 2014,» she said. The European Union reiterates its full support for the work of the JIT and welcomes the progress made by the countries involved on an effective prosecution mechanism. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has welcome the first results of the investigation the crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 downed in Donbas in July 2014. Dutch prosecutors have identified 100 people suspected of involvement in the crash of the plane of Malaysian Airlines. President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice to continue coordinating actions for the Joint Investigation Team to make public as soon as possible the names of those involved in the crash of MH17.
