Prosecutors Open Investigation Into Holding Illegal Election For State Duma Of Russia In Crimea

Prosecutors have embarked upon an investigation upon the illegal election for the State Duma of Russia in the Russia-occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a statement made by the press service for the Office of the Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“The Office of the Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is taking measures for the prosecution of the persons elected as deputies of the RF State Duma following the illegal election in the territory of the Russia-occupied Crimean Peninsula,” it reads.

Information from the Central Election Commission of Russia, "first deputy chairman of the council of ministers of the republic of Crimea" Mikhail Sheremet, "deputy chairman of the council of ministers of the republic of Crimea" Ruslan Balbek and "prosecutor" of Crimea Nataliya Poklonskaya are entering the State Duma of Russia on the United Russia party's ticket.

Andrey Kozenko, Konstantin Bakharev, Svetlana Savichenko and Dmitry Belik (all from United Russia) won the State Duma election respectively in single-member constituencies Nos.19, 20, 21 and 219.

Prosecutors have entered a record on the Uniform Register of Prejudicial Inquiries upon this fact under part 1 of article 111 (High treason) of the Penal Code.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Petro Poroshenko calls on the United Nations member-states to unrecognise legitimacy of the election of deputies of the State Duma of Russia.

September 20, the Verkhovna Rada recognised the State Duma of Russia of the new (7th) convocation illegitimate.
