Hillary Clinton, a candidate for the President of the United States, has expressed support to Ukraine in continuation of the reforms. The press service of the President of Ukraine announced this in a statement following negotiations of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with Hillary Clinton, Ukrainian News Agency reports. The statement reads that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko informed Hillary Clinton about the situation in Donbas. Petro Poroshenko thanked Hillary Clinton for continuous and firm supportive stance on Ukraine. Hillary Clinton highlighted the important progress Ukraine has recently made on reforms and her support for those continued steps. Hillary Clinton also congratulated the people of Ukraine on the 25th anniversary of the nation's independence. The negotiations also addressed the necessity of the policy of sanctions of the United States against Russia as an important element for consolidation of the Transatlantic unity and solidarity with Ukraine. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, John Herbst, who was the Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine in 2003-2006, expects tougher sanctions against Russia if the nominee of the Democratic Party Hillary Clinton is elected the President.
