The European Union has decided to allocate EUR 16 million for supporting anticorruption agencies in Ukraine. Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, announced this at a meeting with heads of anticorruption agencies of Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports. The Commissioner of the European Union said the funds for supporting the anticorruption agencies of Ukraine would be allocated through the government of Denmark. A statement by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reads that the total budget of the assistance program makes EUR 16.34 million. The statement also reads that the contribution of the European Union is EUR 15 million and the rest of the sum is finding from Denmark. The Ukrainian parliament will get the assistance to supervise the anticorruption agencies, as well as non-government organizations and mass media. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the European Commission urges Ukraine to commence formation of the Higher Anticorruption Court as soon as possible.
